June 1, 2020: Building access is limited to employees whose work require their physical presence. Students and visitors may enter the building by appointment only.
June 1, 2020: The DOC and Equipment Checkout are open by appointment only. Please contact:
Digital Output Center: Josh Werling at firstname.lastname@example.org
Equipment Checkout: Steve Mastroianni at email@example.com
June 1, 2020: Until further notice, the Equipment Checkout online reservation system will remain closed for regular business. Staff and faculty should contact Steve Mastroianni for any reservation needs or extensions.
Summer equipment loans are available on a very limited basis for CIA-related activities, and must be accompanied by faculty or staff approval.
June 1, 2020: Students who still have equipment will need to schedule an appointment to return equipment. Contact Steve Mastroianni at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss. As always, you are responsible for all equipment in your possession until it is returned to CIA.
No new fines will be assessed for any equipment checkout since Spring break and the campus closure. Students and staff are liable for all equipment in their possession until it it returned.
June 1, 2020: Please contact the Facilities Office at email@example.com to schedule a time to pack your belongings.
March 23, 2020: The March 22 state of Ohio to stay at home order reinforces our emphasis on reducing the number of faculty and staff on campus to those whose work requires their physical presence here.
CIA will continue to have staff onsite as necessary to continue essential business functions, including payroll processing, to provide technological support and to ensure that the College can continue educational delivery. Because the residence halls are still open for students who could not return home, residence hall and cleaning staff remain as well.
We will continue to observe safety standards, especially with regard to social distancing.
The State of Ohio Board of Health issued additional FAQs related to the stay in place.
March 23, 2020: Following Governor DeWine’s stay-at-home order, allowing student access to studios for item pickup, even if carefully coordinated and scheduled, is not an option at this point. However, we would like to ensure all students that your items are safe and you will be able to retrieve them when we have permission to resume building access.
March 20, 2020: Although we have strongly encouraged students to return to their permanent residence if they can, CIA has kept its residence halls open because some of our students have personal circumstances that require them to stay in place.
Many of our international students are prevented from returning home because of federal travel bans.
Several students live in a household that includes family members with health conditions that could be compromised by the student returning.
Some residents do not have a permanent home, have recently aged out of foster care or are from unwelcome or hostile environments.
For these reasons, we feel morally obliged to continue to provide housing.
It's important to note that CIA residence halls are different than traditional dormitory-style halls. Ours consist of apartments and suites rather with separate kitchens/kitchenettes, living spaces, and bathrooms. These setups add a layer of physical separation for the small population that remains on campus.
Our staff members have been working diligently to ensure cleanliness within our residences, and have provided continuous information to students about transmission of the virus, avoiding crowds, maintaining good personal health habits, and getting help if they begin to feel unwell. We have banned outside guests and the use of shared workout equipment in the hall. We are constantly monitoring the situation and determining if other actions need to be taken.
March 23, 2020: As of March 24, we ask that you hold of to equipment until further notice.
Likewise, the Digital Output Center is closed until further notice.
April 8, 2020: Students who are returning in the fall may keep the items until they return or they can contact the library to make other arrangements. The library is not charging overdue fines for materials returned at any point before September 15, 2020, but replacement charges will be assessed for items that aren't returned by that date.
Seniors or students who are not returning in the fall must return items by May 8, 2020, or contact the library as soon as possible to make arrangements to return CIA property before they leave.
Contact the library staff with any questions or concerns using the chat service or the question form at https://researchguides.cia.edu/updates.
March 18, 2020: All of the staff are working, either remotely or on-campus, and are available by phone or email. The work of assisting students continues because classes are still in session. Do not hesitate to contact any staff member and be sure to leave a message if you don’t reach the person you’re looking for. We are still here to support you.
