Student Clubs/Descriptions
Artists for Christ (AFC)
Artists for Christ is a
student group who promotes the spiritual life of CIA students by providing
opportunities for Christian spiritual growth through worship, fellowship,
training, and servant outreach.
Campus Activities Board
(CAB)
This club works with Student life &
Housing/Student Affairs to sponsor Bongo Ball, the Halloween Party, Cedar Point,
Laser Tag (Star Wars), and Pink Pig. CAB does fun stuff! Throughout the school year
they have a bunch of activities for students to enjoy like Sandy Candy,
Valentine’s & Coffee Time, and De-stress Express just to name a few.
Community Service Club (CSC)
The Community Service Club and the office of
Student Life & Housing/Student Affairs provides several opportunities for
CIA students to serve their local community and the greater Cleveland region. Past
activities include MS Fest, Greater Cleveland AIDS Walk, and making dinner for
the residents at Hope Lodge. This past year, CSC traveled to New Orleans
once again, making it its fifth year of working
with Hurricane Katrina relief programs. This year the club will begin
working with Habitat for Humanity and will continue to volunteer with new
organizations in the years to come.
Fiber Club
Fiber Club is open to all students who
are interested in the fiber arts. Come and join us while we knit, crochet,
share projects and talk! All skill levels welcome. This groups hosts an annual
fiber prom in the spring. This club also brings in guest artists to talk to
students about various techniques in fiber.
Gaffer/Glass Club
Known for their potluck, this group brings in guest
artists to talk to students about different techniques in glass blowing. Also
you can learn techniques for blowing, handling, and creating glass.
Game Club
This group is all about video games and discussing
what is good about some games and how other games can be improved. If you love
video games this is the club for you.
Student Independent
Exhibition (SIE)
The annual Student Independent Exhibition is one of the
major shows featured in the Institute’s Reinberger Galleries each year. The
Exhibition is sponsored by the Student Leadership Council and offers students
the opportunity to introduce their work to the public. Show rules, jury
selection, publicity, catalogs, exhibit design and installation and the opening
reception are organized and coordinated by students. Students in all majors are
encouraged to submit work for jury consideration.
Student Leadership Council
Student Leadership Council is the student governing
organization composed of class representatives from first through fourth year.
The council plans and coordinates annuals events, and officially presents the
views of the student body to faculty and administration. Student Leadership
Council also sponsors student organizations, the Halloween Party, Pink Pig, and
the annual Student Independent Exhibition. Other sponsored activities include
Free Sandwich day brought to students by AFC, Alternative Spring Break (CSC),
Style your own Sole party by TOMS, and many more. All students are urged to
serve as representatives or attend open meetings.
TOMS club
Raising awareness of TOMS, which is a company
providing shoes to people all over the world for various reasons including
prevention of disease, and share the One for One movement. This group has a
Style Your Sole parties, TOMS documentary viewing, and supporting the National
Day without shoes.
