CIA again named to "Best in the Midwest" list

Student Life . Student Services . Tutoring

Tutoring

Tutoring is available free of charge to all CIA students for both academic and studio classes. In addition to course-specific material, students can receive help with note taking, term paper preparation, test-taking strategies, and other study skills through one-on-one peer tutoring by upper-class students.

We also have a Writing and Learning Center, which students can use on a walk-in basis for assistance with writing and editing term papers, and offer disability support and advising services.

Tutoring Program

The Tutoring Program is set up to serve you in different ways according to your individual needs. Whether that means a quick run through of a paper or study sessions throughout the semester, there is a tutoring plan that will work for you.

What can I get tutoring for?

You can receive tutoring for any liberal arts class.

Where do I go to get a tutor?

Stop by the Learning Support Services Office and ask for Jill Milenski or Helen Sullivan to be assigned a tutor based on your specific needs. You also can drop by the Writing and Learning Center during center hours and a tutor can assist you immediately.

Who are the tutors?

The tutors are students who have been referred by faculty as outstanding students in both art history and composition courses. They are paid peer-tutors who have been trained to work with students struggling in their academics.

When do I have to see my tutor?

Once you’re assigned a tutor, you and your tutor will schedule a time and location that are mutually agreeable. For many students, it works best to meet in the Writing and Learning Center during your tutor’s regularly scheduled hours. If those hours are not suitable, you may meet outside of those hours at any other location.

How much does tutoring cost?

Tutoring at CIA is FREE!
