Technology is a part of almost everything at CIA, and Technology Services is here to support your work. Throughout campus, computer labs are available to students from all majors, hosting the latest computer hardware in Mac OS and Windows environments. Wacom Cintiqs, cameras, projectors, and other technologies are available for all disciplines and may be checked out for a period of time. Visit Checkout for more information. A network render farm is an option for finalizing your BFA designs and renders.
Students have access to a variety of software installed throughout campus, and may buy software at a discount for their own laptops. For more information on student discounts and applicable software, check out our technology store. Software in labs include: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), Autodesk (Mudbox, Inventor, 3D Studio Max, Maya), Microsoft Office 365 (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Google Drive, and much more depending on major!
Digital printing plays an important role in the development of our students’ work. Black and white and color prints and copies are available using student credit campus-wide. For larger projects, the Digital Output Center (DOC) offers specialty printing.
Discipline-specific technology is managed by individual majors. Check out your major’s facilities here. Questions regarding these resources can be answered by CIA’s technology specialists. In addition to the Reinberger Gallery, CIA’s Media Mesh serves as a showcase for still and moving student work. The Media Mesh operates daily on the northwest side of the George Gund building, facing Euclid avenue.
CIA puts a high value on security. We help keep you and your work safe with limited card key access to the residence halls and academic buildings. Check out the Safety + Security section for more information.
Have a question, concern, or comment about technology on campus? Open a support ticket with our help desk by simply emailing email@example.com! When you create a ticket, we will ensure that the right person for your issue is reached. A help desk or facilities technician will reach out to you as soon as one is available. It also means that the right person for your issue is reached. If you need immediate assistance, visit the Help Desk in room 116 or Facilities in room 110 from 8:30am-4:30pm on weekdays.
Incoming freshman should not buy a laptop. CIA students will need to know technical requirements that are specific to their majors beginning in their second year. Please note that discounts are only available for CIA students, faculty, and staff.
