The Spring Show
he Cleveland Institute of Art blossoms at 3 venues, with 5 exhibitions, and 16 art forms.
Cleveland: Art is in full bloom at The Cleveland Institute of Art, where the campus-wide spring show will open this April. The collective student exhibition presents an unparalleled range of ideas, materials and technologies. From Industrial Design to Illustration, from T.I.M.E. – Digital Arts to Drawing, all of the 16 majors (grouped into environments: Design, Material Culture, Visual Arts and Technologies, Integrated Media and Foundation) proudly present their work to visitors to the University Circle campus.
"This is a very exciting year for The Spring Show,” says Mark Inglis, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at CIA. “We are introducing an art fair model with a neighborhood map that allows you to attend different exhibitions at different locations.”
The Spring Show takes place from April 22 to April 25, and will be on display at The Cleveland Institute of Art’s Joseph McCullough Center for the Visual Arts (JMC) and The Gund Building, and at The Weatherhead School of Management’s Peter B. Lewis Building at Case Western Reserve University. Complementary Shuttle service will run between the Peter B. Lewis Building and The Joseph McCullough Building. The Spring Show is an inviting, ambitious exhibition that offers something for every art lover.
The Spring Design Show, featuring work in Communication, Industrial and Interior Design, will display the student’s broad knowledge of design principles and refined communication. The exhibition is at The Weatherhead School of Management’s Peter B. Lewis Building at Case Western Reserve University, 1119 Bellflower Road, Cleveland. The exhibition takes place April 22 – 23, 9 am – 5 pm and April 24, 9 am – 7:30 pm. There is a public reception on Friday, April 24 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
The Spring Integrated Media Environment Show, featuring Biomedical Art, Film, Video and Photographic Arts, Illustration and T.I.M.E. – Digital Arts, is called move it, move it: IMAGE & NARRATIVE. The exhibit includes time-based and still works that will move viewers through a series of portals representing the body, the landscape, the touch and the imagined. The exhibition is at CIA’s Reinberger Galleries at The Gund Building, 11141 East Boulevard, Cleveland. The exhibition takes places March 27 – April 25. Gallery hours are: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays: 10 am – 5 pm; Fridays: 10 am – 9 pm; Saturdays: 10 am – 5 pm. The Gallery is closed Sundays and Mondays. There is a public reception on Friday, April 24 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm.
The Spring Material Culture Show, featuring Enameling, Jewelry and Metals, Ceramics and Glass, will explore an unparalleled range of ideas, materials, and technologies, to reflect and record humanity. There are two exhibitions at CIA’s Joseph McCullough Center (JMC) and at Case Western Reserve University. The exhibition A Table for Two takes place at the JMC April 22 –23:10 am – 5 pm; April 24:10 am – 9 pm; April 25: 10 am – 5 pm. The Exhibition in Motion runway show is in the Peter B. Lewis Building on April 24 at 6:30 pm. There is a public reception at the JMC on Friday, April 24, from 5:30 – 8:30 pm.
The Spring Visual Arts and Technologies Show, featuring Drawing, Fiber and Material Studies, Painting, Printmaking and Sculpture, will show contemporary student artwork from these emerging artists. The show is open Friday, April 24 from 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm and Saturday, April 25 from 10 am - 5:00 pm. There is a public reception on Friday, April 24 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm.
The Spring Foundation Show, featuring work from Foundation, where all CIA students begin their artistic careers, balances fundamental approaches with experimentation and innovation in the world of art and design. The exhibition is at the JMC from April 13 - April 25, from 10 am – 5 pm daily.
