Instructor's painting show wins rave review

Dan Tranberg has solo show at 1point618 Gallery through Nov. 15.

CIA painting students know that visiting instructor Dan Tranberg gives fair but thorough critiques of their work. So it’s a nice turn of events that Tranberg’s solo show, now on view at 1point618 Gallery in Cleveland’s Gordon Square Arts District, received such a glowing review recently from Plain Dealer art critic Steven Litt.

Dan Tranberg: New Work is a collection of the artist’s latest geometric abstractions.

Tranberg, who teaches in the Painting and Liberal Arts departments, has been an adjunct faculty member at CIA since 1999. In addition to teaching and painting, Tranberg is a writer and critic, whose work has been published in art journals including BOMB, and Art in America. He was a freelance art critic for The Plain Dealer from 1998-2011 and his book, Acrylic Fusion: Experimenting with Alternative Methods for Painting, Collage, and Mixed Media, was published in 2012 by Quarry Books.
