Cleveland Institute of Art Fiber + Material Studies alumni featured in free exhibition at Praxis Fiber Workshop Gallery

CLEVELAND (Ohio) – Praxis Fiber Workshop, a Cleveland Institute of Art connection, will host Close Connections: A CIA Fiber Alumni Exhibition, on view Wednesdays and weekends from Aug. 8 through Sept. 23.
Exhibiting artists include the following CIA alumni: Brittany Campbell, Ash Fiasco, Mathew Grady, Bill Lorton, Natalie Grieshammer, Sarah Gotowka, Deborah Silver, Annmarie Suglio, Simone Schiffmacher and Hildur Jonnson. Each will be showing recent work in a diverse and exciting exhibition showcasing contemporary works ranging from traditional mediums such as weaving, to digital works and performance art employing processes rooted in traditional fiber practice.
The show opens with a public reception from 6-9pm on Friday, August 7. Public viewing hours continue on Wednesdays, 12-4pm; Saturdays, 12-4pm; and Sundays, 12-4pm. Admission to this show is free.
Located 15301 Waterloo Road in Cleveland, Praxis is a center dedicated to teaching fiber processes and supporting artists working with the ideas tied to this rich medium. Praxis opened in Cleveland’s Collinwood neighborhood in May. An open working studio, Praxis is committed to the continuance of this cutting-edge yet ancient field of practice.
