Who May Borrow OhioLINK Items?

Cleveland Institute of Art degree-program students and faculty, emeritus faculty, and most staff may borrow items from OhioLINK.

Requesting OhioLINK items

If an item is unavailable through our catalog, then it’s possible to borrow it through OhioLINK. Materials may be requested from other OhioLINK libraries for delivery to the Gund Library in approximately 3-5 business days. There is no fee for borrowing OhioLINK materials.

Once you have located the item you want in the OhioLINK central catalog:

  • Click on “request this item” link
  • Select “CWRU” as your institution and “CIA--Gund Art Library” as your pick-up location
  • Type in your name and your library account number, and click “submit”
  • You will receive an email at your CIA email address when your requested item is available for pick up

General loan periods

  • Faculty: loan period is 42 days with 6 renewals
  • Students and staff: loan period is 21 days with 6 renewals.
  • DVDs and CDs: loan period is 7 days and these items are usually not renewable

Borrowing privileges are suspended if the amount owed on your library account exceeds $15.00.

Using OhioLINK Databases

Access to the OhioLINK databases is available on campus and remotely from off campus.

Visiting Other OhioLINK Libraries

As a current student, faculty or staff with a clear library record, you have borrowing privileges at any OhioLINK library. Present a valid CIA ID to that library’s circulation staff, and tell them you are an OhioLINK visiting patron.
