CIA’s Bruce Checefsky is your wry art tour guide in "Gallery Guy"
The director of Reinberger Gallery at the Cleveland Institute of Art is the host of “Gallery Guy,” a short-video series highlighting artists and exhibitions. The episodes offer viewers context for looking at art. They’re one way Checefsky hopes to break down the intimidation factor of contemporary art.
2016 Faculty Exhibition
In this first episode, "Gallery Guy" Bruce Checefsky interviews CIA faculty members Nancy McEntee, Maggie Denk-Leigh, Seth Nagelberg, Kevin Kautenburger, and Sarah Kabot about their work in CIA's 2016 Faculty Exhibition.
In the second installment of "Gallery Guy," Associate Professor Dan Cuffaro discusses a camp stove prototype that he's designed, and Associate Professor Lane Cooper describes her process for making work.
Checefsky talks to Professor Petra Soesemann about her piece, "Reconstructed Color," a vibrant quilt that projects itself off the wall, and Professor Tina Cassara, whose piece was inspired by digital prints of the software she uses to make embroideries.
Assistant Professor Jimmy Kuehnle talks with Checefsky about his inflatable artwork, some of which is on currently on display in the exhibition Wiggle, Giggle, Jiggle at the Akron Art Museum.
