Coming with Age

Cleveland Institute of Art student and emerging craft artist, Mike Mentz, will debut his first solo exhibition as a part of the Cleveland Institute of Art's Creativity Works Internship made possible by the Cleveland Foundation Fenn Educational Fund.

His show, titled Coming with Age, explores the fragile experiences of both adolescence and childhood. Mentz's mixed media sculptures contain a tactile quality, emphasizing materiality and the hand made. Inspired by coming of age narratives, he relies upon the symbolic to convey personal narratives and concepts within his sculptures.
