Spend a lunch hour learning about the latest in art and design during these Friday lectures. Each lecture features a variety of artists and designers from around the world, including CIA faculty and visiting artists. This event is free and open to the public. Pizza and beverages will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
The first Lunch on Fridays presentation of the semester will welcome new faculty member Steven Gutierrez to the stage. Steven has followed a non-traditional career path over the years, developing a broad range of skills across multiple art and media disciplines, including sculpture, robotic art, web design, video game design, animation, video production and special effects. Starting off as a mechanical and aerospace engineer at Cornell, Steven was also drawn to art and design. He has worked with Little Tikes/Rubbermaid on illustrations, video, 2D and 3D animation, and also at NASA as an interactive media/web developer, where he created interactive online science simulators, video documentation, and educational content that have been used in science classrooms around the country. Steven comes to CIA with 18 years of teaching experience. During this time, he created a new program in Integrated Media, Digital Art & Technology while developing new courses as new technologies entered the art world. He brings his mix of art, technology and interests in public engagement to the Foundation Digital Studies and Charrette classes, as well as to his professional artwork. This semester, he is teaching the Engaged Practice course “Animation for Food Safety.”
Lunch on Fridays is generously supported by CIA's Foundation and Liberal Arts departments.
