BIO:

Carmen Romine is a Cleveland-based artist focused on issues of sustainability and waste. Growing up in Medina, OH, her work is inspired by memories of surrounding rural landscapes and a personal connection to time in a growing modern society. She creates abstract landscapes in the form of dimensional drawings and collages by working mainly with paper waste and other natural or recycled materials. She received her BFA in Fiber and Material Studies at the Cleveland Institute of Art with a background in Drawing. In 2010, she earned the William E. Ward '47, Evelyn Svec Ward Scholarship in Fiber and the Harold and Cynthia Goodwin Award in the Student Independent Exhibition at the Reinberger Gallery for an installation of eggshells. Carmen currently lives and works in Cleveland Heights where she manages a retail website for a yarn store and works on commissioned art projects in addition to her studio practice.
