Portraits from the course, "Drawn to Care: Portraiture + Medicine," will be on public view Wednesday, April 27, through Friday, April 29, in the 2nd floor atrium of the Cleveland Institute of Art. A public reception will be held on Friday, April 29, from 5 to 7pm.

Drawn to Care features the work of CIA students Davon Brantley '18, Bianca Breed '18, Sirrena Holmes '17, and Megan Sigetic '17, who have spent the 2015-16 school year in official clinical rotations with a total of 10 patients at Cleveland Clinic neighborhood dialysis centers. Painting and drawing from direct observation during patients’ dialysis treatment sessions, these students spent a minimum of three weeks of portrait sessions with each patient.

This year-long Engaged Practice course, in partnership with Cleveland Clinic Arts & Medicine Institute, Cleveland Clinic Glickman Urological & Kidney Institute, and Fresenius Medical Care, is an example of Cores + Connections, CIA's academic initiative in which core values of faculty mentorship, academic rigor, cutting edge curriculum, and state-of-the-art facilities, all power extensive connections for student engagement in field-based experiential learning, real-world professional projects, and social practices in art and design.

The building is handicapped accessible. For the exhibition, use the public red door entrance at the NW corner of the building, and parking is metered. For the reception only, free parking is available in the south lot directly behind the school, and the rear entrance to the school may be used.
