When 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Where George Gund Building, Aitken Auditorium, 1st
Join us for a presentation by painter and former CIA faculty member Sarah McKenzie on Wednesday, March 4, at 6:30 pm in Aitken Auditorium. Pizza will be provided. McKenzie’s paintings of buildings under construction reflect her interest in “the connection between the construction of an architectural structure from raw materials (lumber, steel, concrete) and the construction of a picture from raw materials (paint, canvas, wood).” Her more recent paintings of windows “convey a sense of absence and longing.”
She will share ideas about her work and the value she places on making paintings as physical objects with which viewers “have a direct, visceral relationship and response.” McKenzie’s visit is made possible by CIA’s George P. Bickford Fund for Visiting Artists in Painting.
