Cleveland Institute of Art graduate and New York City based artist Fred Gutzeit will be the focus of a solo exhibition of his recent paintings and prints. Gutzeit achieves brilliantly colored artworks through photographs, watercolors, and computer manipulation. Rooted in the street graffiti seen throughout New York City and Brooklyn in particular, the artist transforms that graffiti into op-art abstraction. Atop eye-popping patterns, he signs his paintings in a swirling script.

Fred Gutzeit Sig-Nature: Recent Paintings and Prints opens at Tregoning & Company on Friday May 17, and runs through June 8, 2013. The opening coincides with 78 Street Studios now-famous "Third Friday" Open House ---a building-wide event of art music and theatre. The artist will be present and available throughout the evening.
