Watercolor Painting for Kids
Through a playful and experimental approach we will embark on an exploration of the fundamentals of watercolor painting. We will learn the basics such as paint mixing and application techniques, compositional tools such as line and shape, subjects such as still life and landscape, and an array of non-traditional approaches to encourage creative exploration and problem-solving. Emphasis will be placed on developing confidence with the medium, an understanding of formal elements, and a desire for working out of the box. Students will create several finished paintings and be encouraged to keep an explorer’s watercolor sketchbook both in and out of class.
