Dates June 5 - July 24 (Tuesdays) – 6pm - 9pm
Learn the skills, tools, and materials needed to design and construct simple household furniture. In this class, students will complete all steps to build their own side- or end-table: initial design, selecting wood, cutting, joining, and finishing. The class starts with safety instruction and an introduction to CIA’s woodshop. Students will then have the opportunity to take a field trip to learn how to select wood based on their planned design. Each weekly session will introduce concepts and materials as well as tool-using techniques participants will utilize as they progress in their project, and will allow students plenty of time to work on their own piece. This course teaches foundational skills that are applicable in all types of furniture building, and can be utilized in any woodshop.
