Community . Mary Urbas
Mary Urbas has 38 years of experience in the professional art world as a gallery owner, curator, teacher, consultant, and exhibiting fiber artist, bringing a real-world perspective to both sides of the business and marketing of art. Mary received her BFA from Cleveland Institute of Art ‘80 with a major in Textile Design and Silk Screen Printing, with minors in Weaving and Printmaking. In 1997 she opened The Gallery in Chagrin Falls which featured contemporary fine art + crafts. Later Mary became the Gallery Curator and Assistant Director at the Valley Art Center in 2001, where she taught adults and children, before becoming the Gallery Coordinator and Exhibition Curator at Lakeland Community College, a position she has held for 12.5 years.
