The 19th annual edition of this popular touring program features 16 internationally acclaimed animated short films from Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the U.S. Among this year’s highlights: Niki Lindroth von Bahr’s extraordinary, award-winning stop-motion musical My Burden; David O’Reilly's visually stunning Everything, based on a 1973 talk given by British-American philosopher Alan Watts; Les Goldman and Paul Julian’s 1964 classic The Hangman (recently restored by the Animation Show of Shows as part of its film preservation program); and Next Door, a 1990 student film made at CalArts by two-time Oscar-winning Pixar director Pete Docter (Up).
