Jeanne Moreau, 1928-2017. New Digital Restoration!
UNE HISTOIRE IMMORTELLE
France | 1968 | Orson Welles
The late Jeanne Moreau co-stars with Orson Welles in this haunting, rarely shown late Welles film (his first feature in color) made for French television. Based (like Babette’s Feast and Out of Africa) on an Isak Dinesen story, this sumptuous production is set in 19th-century Macao, where a wealthy merchant (Welles) uses his money and influence to make a legendary tale come true: one about an old man who hires a lucky sailor to impregnate his beautiful young wife. Music by Erik Satie. In English. Blu-ray. 58 min.
