A Special Event! Silent Film with Live Music! The Invincible Czars accompany
NOSFERATU, EINE SYMPHONIE DES GRAUENS
Germany | 1922 | F.W. Murnau
Austin’s ace silent film accompanists The Invincible Czars (see 10/6 at 7:00 pm) accompany F.W. Murnau’s spectral classic—one of the earliest and creepiest of all vampire movies—in their second of tonight’s two shows. An unauthorized version of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Nosferatu stars Max Schreck as the ghoulish Count Orlok, who trains his fangs, talons, and beady eyes on an unsuspecting real estate agent and his beautiful young wife. The Invincible Czars’ popular, oft-performed score will enhance the horror of this poetic masterpiece, which will be shown fully restored with color tints. Subtitles. DCP. 84 min.
Special admission $15; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, those age 25 & under (and those paying to see Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde at 7 pm) $10; no passes, twofers, or radio winners.
Event co-sponsored by the Center for Popular Music Studies, CWRU; special thanks to Daniel Goldmark.
