Cleveland theatrical premiere!
Jordan, Qatar, United Kingdom | 2016 | Babak Anvari
This Farsi-language thriller is Britain’s submission for the 2017 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, as well as one of the most acclaimed movies of 2016. Both a chilling ghost story and a sly parable on the oppression of women in Iran, the movie is set during the terrifying final days of the 1980s Iran-Iraq war. It follows an aspiring doctor and her young daughter who live by themselves in Tehran. They are threatened by Iraqi missiles outside their apartment and an evil spirit inside. “Satisfyingly tense and atmospheric…Vaguely political and ineluctably sinister.” –Variety. Subtitles. DCP. 84 min.
