THE FORTUNE COOKIE

United States | 1966 | Billy Wilder

The 1965 Cleveland Browns can be seen briefly in this comedy classic, partially filmed at old Municipal Stadium. The film paired Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau for the first time. Lemmon plays a TV cameraman injured on the sidelines during a Browns game; Matthau (who won the Oscar) plays his wily brother-in-law, a corrupt lawyer who decides to bilk the insurance company for exaggerated damages. The great Billy Wilder (Some Like It Hot, Sunset Boulevard) co-wrote and directed this scintillating satire that skewers sacred cows and scores sardonic sociological points. Archival scope print! 126 min.

Special admission $11; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $8; no passes, twofers, or radio winners.
