New Digital Restoration! Cleveland revival premiere!
United States | 1994 | Kelly Reichardt
Here’s a new digital restoration of the acclaimed first feature by one of America’s premier independent filmmakers, Kelly Reichardt (Wendy and Lucy, Meek’s Cutoff, et al.). Shot on 16mm in her native Florida, the movie is a revisionist noir comedy about a bored suburban Miami housewife and an aimless handyman (indie filmmaker Larry Fessenden) who almost become outlaw lovers on the run after an accidental shooting. This funny, stylish film turns melodramatic crime-movie conventions upside down. Reichardt has called it "a road movie without the road, a love story without the love, and a crime story without the crime." DCP. 76 min.
