Peter Sarsgaard and Winona Ryder star in this acclaimed drama inspired by a notorious experiment conducted by Yale social psychologist Stanley Milgram in 1961. Milgram demonstrated that ordinary people would administer electric shocks to distressed strangers if ordered to do so by an authority figure.
