Jacques Dutronc plays a disenchanted filmmaker (named "Godard") who has two women in his life: an ex (Nathalie Baye) and a prostitute (Isabelle Huppert, above). Despite familiar Godardian themes (men and women, sex and commerce, cinema), the movie is one of the master's freshest, funniest, and most accessible works, with brilliant use of slow- and stop-motion. Chiara Mastroianni stars as stressed-out wife and mother in MAKING PLANS FOR LENA MAKING PLANS FOR LENA is the new film by France's Christophe Honoré, director of MA MERE and DANS PARIS. In a role written expressly for her, Chiara Mastroianni (daughter of Marcello Mastroianni and Catherine Deneuve) plays a wife and mother coming apart at the seams after leaving her unfaithful husband (Jean-Marc Barr). Retreating to her family's seasonal home in Breton, she spends the summer dealing with advice from well-meaning but clueless relatives and fending off advances from an old boyfriend (Louis Garrel). CIA Prez to discuss romantic films at Feb. 5 Cleveland Int'l Film Festival fundraiser Film scholar and movie buff Grafton Nunes (he's also President of the Cleveland Institute of Art) and Plain Dealer Book Editor Karen Long will discuss their favorite romantic films and books during a special event on Sat., Feb. 5 at 7 pm at The Merrymeeting Group in Independence. The event, entitled "A Love Story," is one of the Cleveland International Film Festival's "Film Feasts," a series of intimate, around-town fundraisers that support the festival.
