Dec. 10-13 Turkish teenage rape victim targeted for "honor" killing in powerful drama BLISS In BLISS , a Turkish teenage rape victim is escorted by her male cousin to Istanbul, where (unbeknownst to her) he plans to carry out her honor killing on behalf of her family. This moving and surprising drama was hailed by The New York Times as "a landmark of contemporary Turkish cinema" in this rave review . See it Thursday or Friday. Print this post and present it at the boxoffice either night and see "Bliss" for only $6 ($5 if you're a Cinematheque member). It's our Deal of the Week! (Limit two discount admissions per print-out) Sundance winner WE LIVE IN PUBLIC documents privacy-free living experiment At the turn of the millennium, internet pioneer Josh Harris lived with 100 volunteers in an underground NYC bunker for 30 days. All participants in this experiment were all under surveillance 24/7. What happened while the cameras were rolling, and afterward, forms the basis of the fascinating new documentary WE LIVE IN PUBLIC , which won the Grand Jury Prize at this year's Sundance Film Festival. See this major new film only at the Cinematheque this Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. EARTH DAYS revisits early days of modern environmental movement Rachel ("Silent Spring") Carson, Paul ("The Population Bomb") Ehrlich, and Stewart ("Whole Earth Catalog") Brand are just some of the "green" pioneers who turn up in EARTH DAYS , a comprehensive new look at the formative days of the modern environmental movement. With the global warming conference now taking place in Copenhagen, our timing could hardly be better. The film contains some great archival film clips, which you can enjoy seeing Saturday or Sunday. Fellini series ends with episodic, magical ROMA Our ninth Fellini film in our two-month series "Nine by Fellini" is FELLINI'S ROMA , his impressionistic 1972 tribute to the Eternal City. Rarely shown, this vignette-laden travelogue and dream/memory piece contains some of the maestro's most memorable segments, all set to music by the great Nino Rota. See it in a new 35mm color print this Saturday or Sunday. However, the Fellini movies don't end this weekend. We've added a 10th film -- Fellini's Oscar-winning 1974 autobiography "Amarcord," in a new, restored 35mm color print -- on Saturday, January 9 at 5:00 pm and Sunday, January 10 at 4:00 pm. If you didn't see it when we first showed it in April, don't miss it this time around. It's one of many great films coming in January and February. Our Fellini retrospective is sponsored by Cleveland's Fellini-inspired restaurants -- La Dolce Vita at 12112 Mayfield Road at the corner of Murray Hill in Little Italy, and La Strada at 2050 East Fourth Street downtown -- and by Campari. Show your ticket stub at either restaurant and receive a free appetizer with the purchase of any entree, now through February 28, 2010.
