David Lean Series Starts At 7 Pm Tonight!

01/05/09  |  Posted by Cinematheque  |  Posted in Cinematheque

David Lean's IN WHICH WE SERVE is the first of ten Lean films that the Cinematheque will show between now and March 1. This 1942 feature, co-directed by Noel Coward (who also wrote and stars in it, and composed the music), is a stirring WWII drama that employs flashbacks to profile the officers and sailors on a crippled British destroyer. It stars John Mills, Celia Johnson, Kay Walsh, and Richard Attenborough, and is one of the most moving of all wartime dramas. IN WHICH WE SERVE will be shown in a new, fully-restored 35mm film print from the British Film Institute in London. Between 6 pm and 7 pm, we will serve complimentary tea and biscuits (cookies & scones), so arrive early. Tickets (at the door) are only $8, Cinematheque members $6.
