Graphic Design

11/16/17  |  Posted by LeAnn Troutner  |  Posted in Digital Creativity

Graphic Design is widely used in our everyday lives, we may not even know it. Looking at menus, advertisements, publications, websites, signs and posters and more, these are made by graphic designers. Nowadays every career and company uses graphic design in some way to some extent. No matter what major you are interested in, taking classes in graphic design is helpful. Graphic design is the art of communication, as communication evolves so does the graphic design.

The Cleveland Institute of Art looks at graphic design as a major that is constantly changing but explores these innovations and traditional methods. Typography, package design, print and web design, and signage are focuses as methods of designers’ communications. CIA education introduces students to forms, methods, conventional and experimental types of media, and concepts related to creative development, self-expression and effective visual communication and production. Study includes editorial and publication design, event and editorial design, interactive and motion graphics, print, marketing and advertising design and production.

Graduating with a degree in graphic design opens a lot of doors; including associate partner, film director and writer, fashion designer, entrepreneur, magazine designer, advertising designer, and director.
