Glass

11/09/17  |  Posted by LeAnn Troutner  |  Posted in Digital Creativity

Glass has become an artist’s bridge between personal expression and one-of-a-kind work. It is because of this trend that the glass blowing practice has grown in the past fifty years. The growth has resulted in BFA programs for this practice, including the program at CIA. There are four main methods that as a student at the Cleveland Institute of Art teaches within the major; working with the glass hot, working with the glass cold, flame working, and processes of fusion. Each method looks at the material and how to manipulate or make the material into what is desired in a different way.

With a degree in glass, an artist can become a glass artist, studio artist and lighting designer, artisan glassware company founder, glass company founder fabricator, glass assistance and a Heather Moore Jewelry Founder.
