Blog . OS X Mavericks: The Newest Operating System is a Free Upgrade!
Apple released the latest version of OS X operating system called Mavericks! This new operating system offers a lot of new changes such as improvements to the Calendar app and Safari web browser. There is now an iBooks app so you can read whatever books you have on your iPad on your mac.
All of the new features look great, but one big question I have is how will this affect us as artists? Out of all of the new features that I have seen from Mavericks I find some of the changes to the Finder app to be really helpful. Organize photos and project files with colored tabs to improve workflow. Having the tabs in the Finder window means you don't have to have multiple finders open if you want to move around files, and having the tags makes it easier to find files too. You can also give each color tag a specific name, and click on it to show all files under that tag.
Use Apple Air Play and Apple TV to turn an HDTV into a second monitor! This is very useful for having a reference open on one screen and a digital painting open on the other.
There aren't a whole bunch of new features on this update. A lot of the changes are under the hood stuff like improved battery life (for those with Macbooks), compressing the memory to accommodate multitasking with several apps open, improved video playback, and more. Overall I like a lot of the improvements that I see. Apple is offering Mavericks as a free upgrade! Go to the App Store and into the updates section to get the latest operating system.
