ArtLens

02/11/13  |  Posted by Vanesa Jeric  |  Posted in Digital Canvas - Apps & Accessories

The Cleveland Museum of Art developed an app that gives art appreciators a richer museum experience. ArtLens turns untouchable artwork in the museum into something you can interact with digitally! Scan a painting and ArtLens will know what painting it is, by who, and even offer supplemental audio and video for that artwork. Use the “Near You Now” feature to find other works near your location that have additional information to expand what you know about your favorite artists. Or use this feature to get a sneak peek of art along a path that you can set for yourself through the collection. ArtLens is your personal tour guide that shows you only what you want to see. If your feeling a little overwhelmed, not an art gallery professional, pick from tours created by the museum or take a walk down a visitor-created tour. After the experience is over, share your snapshots of your favorites through Facebook and Twitter and create your own tour based on your findings. ArtLens is available for free in the iTunes Store for your next trip to the Cleveland Museum of Art.
