Blog . iPad Controlled Blimp
10/16/12 | Posted by Vanesa Jeric | Posted in Digital Creativity
At a party for some of the top designers around, a modified BlimpDuino controlled by an iPad was flown over the event. While the blimp is floating along, the iPad receives live video feed from the inside of the cockpit. The program used to enable the iPad to be transformed into a remote control is called openFrameworks which is an open source coding software used in the making of many interactive installations. As guests looked up at the blimp above them, their faces are transformed into Munny characters (last photo below) that were up for auction at the event. There is a lot of creativity and undiscovered turf with interactive elements and, thanks to the iPad, expensive equipment is not required to build something unique.
