iOS 6 is Ready For Download!

09/20/12  |  Posted by Vanesa Jeric  |  Posted in Digital Creativity

iOS6 has arrived and you can download the latest software right on your iPad. Just go to "Settings," navigate to the "General" tab on the left, tap "Software Update," and "Download and Install." The update has over 200 new features for your iPads and upgrading to the newest software helps ensure that things run smoothly on your device. ? Maps: Apple has redesigned the Maps app with their own cartography, designing the map systems using vectors so you can zoom all the way in and the picture will stay crisp and clean. With the upgrade of Siri, you also get turn-by-turn notifications and real-time traffic updates. ?Facebook: ?Apple didn't leave Facebook out of the loop of exciting new features, the app is now fully integrated with iOS. All of your standard apps like Calendar and Photos will grab information from Facebook without having to close out of apps. Your calendar will sync your friends' birthdays, Photos will allow you to upload and sync within the app, and you can even tell Siri to post for you. Try out the new iOS6 to discover all the new ways your apps interact with Facebook. ? Photos: Want to share your art photos? You can now select and share the photos you choose, and not miss out on any of your iCloud storage. Need to present them? iOS 6 has a new feature that will allow you to watch your photo streams on Apple TV. ?Find My iPhone: Another must have, especially in a college setting will be the new "lost mode." Track down your iPad or iPhone AND check where it's been. You don't have to worry because you can lock it from anywhere utilizing iCloud, and have your device display your information ensuring a speedy return. ?Phone: ?The new phone app features a "do not disturb" function that you can customize to exclude important people that you don't want to miss a call from. You can also decline a call and set callback reminders or automatically reply with a text message. ?Siri: ?Siri knows a lot more information in the new iOS 6 so ask movie showtimes, game scores, and even ask it to open your apps for you. The app allows you to do even more in other apps including Maps and Facebook. ?Passbook: ?This new app takes all of your tickets for movies, concerts, games, etc. and organizes them right on your device. Never shuffle through an overstuffed wallet again or lose your ticket into the show. In the wrong terminal? Passbook will tell you when your in the wrong place for your airplane flight. Mail: New features include a custom VIP list for all your important people, and faster and easier functionality when it comes to adding photos and videos. Swipe down to refresh your incoming mail. ?Camera: ?The camera app has a new panorama app which allows you to shoot up to 240 degrees! Great for taking art photos of a scenic horizon or the architecture of a building. ?FaceTime: ?This app works over cellular and Wi-Fi networks so you can receive a FaceTime call from your family while your away in college anywhere on your device. It will work on your iPad using your mobile phone number. ?Accessibility: ?This app has been improved to help young children or students with a learning disorder such as autism by allowing you to enable or disable apps you choose. You can also restrict areas of the screen to not allow users to activate apps or functions with touch. To see a full list of the features available with iOS6, visit Apple now, or upgrade your device to start exploring.
