THE HUMAN CONDITION dominates upcoming weekend of great films. It is the centerpiece of the upcoming Cinematheque weekend. Made between 1959 and 1961, this three-part, ten-hour Japanese epic -- which charts a pacifist's progress during WWII. Poignant romance BRIEF ENCOUNTER (pictured to the left) continues David Lean series; enjoy tea and biscuits before Sunday's showing. It is one of the most beloved of all British love stories, and you can see it in a new, fully-restored 35mm film print (from England) this coming Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm. Single screenings of I.O.U.S.A., KENNY, AUGUST EVENING flesh out weekend. NEWS FLASH: Hear Cinematheque Director John Ewing on WCPN's Around Noon next Monday, January 12 between noon and 1 pm on 90.3 FM. Website http://cia.edu/cinematheque E-newsletter View here
