Rene Culler
Rene Culler earned her BFA in Glass 1992 from the Cleveland Institute of Art. She taught as a graduate teaching assistant at Kent State University where she received her MFA at Kent in 1994. She was asked to serve as interim director of the Glass department at KSU for two academic years. She has also taught at CIA as a Visiting Artist/Adjunct Professor and as an instructor for workshops sessions. She is a recent recipient of an Individual Artist’s Fellowship, from the Ohio Arts Council, 2005. Other honors include Professional Development Grant from the Ohio Arts Council, 2001 to participate and present her lecture at the First Historic Hispanic Glass Conference, held in Barcelona, Spain. She traveled to sites of interest including south-western France and Granada. Culler’s hard cover art book, Glass Art From the Kiln for Schiffer Publishers, is due out in 2008. This book will feature historical, and scientific information about glass, a gallery section of selected artists as well as instructional projects to be created in glass.
