Alumni Advisory Council Members

Welcome to your 2015-2016 Alumni Advisory Council! We are here assist the Alumni Council in their efforts in serving the greater Alumni Association. Please feel free to say "Hello".

Degree BFA 1976

Richard Heipp has been teaching painting at the University of Florida since 1982. A UF Research Foundation Professor, he served as Director of the School of Art + Art History from 2010 – 2015. He has been the recipient of 17 research awards for UF, 2 Teacher of the Year awards, a Southern Arts Federation-NEA fellowship in painting, a SECAC Artistic Achievement Award, and 6 State of Florida, Individual Artist Fellowships.

His artwork has been featured in more than 25 solo exhibitions and his work has been exhibited in well over 100 group shows. In addition Heipp has been awarded 20, site-specific, art in public places commissions.

Degree BFA 2001

Lauralee Hutson is a practicing metals and enameling artist and dimensional design educator in Cleveland, Ohio. She possesses a BS, an MS equivalent medical internship and a BFA earned in mid life from Cleveland Institute of Art. Her work, which is often visual narratives combining dimensional metalwork and vitreous enamel, is strongly influenced by both the rural Ohio in which she grew up and her interest in interpersonal communication and commitments. He work has sold at both the Smithsonian and Philadelphia Museums of Art, is in notable collections and is exhibited in national and international venues.

Degree BFA 2005, Painting

After graduating from CIA Painting in 2005, Bridget McKay left Ohio for California to live the west coast dream. She earned her MFA in 2007 from Claremont Graduate University where her work explored issues of mediation and tracing of form and art historical references, and stayed at the university to work with alumni. Drawing on her past as a CIA admissions ambassador and orientation leader, she embarked on a different path to support education and the arts, working at the Orange County Museum of Art and now the California Institute of Technology, painting for herself in her spare time.

Degree BFA 1986

A CIA graduate in 1986 (Surface Design/Photography), I worked as a Colorist/Assistant Designer at Imperial Wallcoverings, then started my own design business (wallpaper/fabric) “Handwerk” (1989-2001). In 2002, I earned a MA in Ed. from Ursuline College.

I am married with two children. Since 2002, I have been teaching Art for Aurora City Schools, and am the Art Department Chair. I have taught graduate arts seminars for Lake Erie College (from 2005-12). I hold Lead Professional and Master Teacher designations, completing 18 post-graduate hours in Curriculum and Supervision from Kent State University.
