Pewter will be introduced as Òthe other white metalÓ that lies somewhere between metal and clay.Ê It is an extremely versatile material suitable for functional ware, jewelry, and sculpture through fabrication, casting, slumping, forging, spinning, and most forming methods.Ê Projects are presented to challenge students to conduct research and examine their own position.Ê Discussions and presentations vary to recognize the direction of the group and include singular object-driven problems, formal issues, and conceptual challenges. Open to Jewelry and Metals majors and all electives. 3 credits.
