Assistant Professor Jimmy Kuehnle recently performed a test run of his giant inflatable sculpture, which will soon be installed in the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in the exhibition “State of the Art: Discovering American Art Now,” in CIA’s parking lot. Larry O’Neal is a graphic designer/illustrator with a unique professional history that allows him to provide his students with a unique look at the graphic design field. Prior to joining the faculty at CIA 4 years ago, Larry spent the majority of his career working in regional ad agencies such as Carr-Liggett (now Liggett-Stashower), Wyse Advertising and Stern Advertising. At Stern (a former subsidiary of TBWA Worldwide Inc.), he served 14 years as Executive Vice President / Executive Creative Director. In addition to supervising a creative staff of 24, he served on the Executive Committee and headed the New Business Task Force. In addition to teaching at CIA, he operates a graphic design firm in Chagrin Falls, OH.

Designer, writer, amateur historian and nascent bread baker, Mari has been involved with information design and publication design (in all it's myriad forms) throughout her practice. Clients have included Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, The Case Connection Zone, Artist Carl Pope, and Internationals Public Schools. She received a 2013 Ohio Arts Council Grant for Individual Excellence with one of her principle collaborators, Mary Jo Toles (Professor of Photography at CIA). She has also taught at Parsons School of Design, University of California (Los Angeles), and U Cal (Santa Barbara).

Current projects include a writing project about information and design, an interactive visualization of the effect of life style changes on Type 2 Diabetes and a fierce wild yeast starter for her crusty sourdough loaves. She is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Chad Robertson's latest book, which promises to be about whole grain wild yeast breads.

Gene is a professor in the Graphic Design Department at CIA and has taught here since 1966 in Graphic Design and Typography. He has received several awards including the AIGA 50 Books of the Year, Exhibited in the Cleveland Society of Communicating Arts Show, the New York Art Directors and Type Directors Shows, and the Society of Illustrators Show.
