Reconnect with your artistic side and develop new techniques and perspectives that you can take back to the classroom. Cleveland Institute of Art's BASIC Programs offer workshops, seminars, and outreach programs led by professional artists and designers.
Earn CEU credits, network with other art educators, and enhance your skills in digital arts, craft, design, and fine arts. BASIC Programs take place in the fall, winter, and spring of each academic year and once during the summer.
"The BASIC class on pastel completely transformed the way I teach pastel in the classroom.”
Carol Stephenson, Middle School Art Teacher, Hathaway Brown School
"BASIC programs energize me to go back into the classroom. I believe every teacher should do this. It shows students that you can learn constantly, and learning doesn’t stop at high school. I display each certificate I received from BASIC. "
Jan McAndrew, Art Teacher, Lakewood High School
"I’m grateful that we’re here at BASIC, I wish it ran more frequently—twice a month would make me happy!"
Georgann Blair, Art Teacher, North Ridgeville High School
"The techniques I learned in a BASIC abstract painting class will help my students with limited drawing skills participate in class."
Johnnie Smart, Ninth Grade Art Teacher, John Hay High School (Cleveland Metropolitan School District)
