Spend a lunch hour learning about the latest in art and design during these Friday lectures. Each lecture features a variety of artists and designers from around the world, including CIA faculty and visiting artists. This event is free and open to the public. Pizza and beverages will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Lane Cooper is an artist working through painting, video, installation, and occasionally performance. In 2009, she participated in a residency at The Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, and in the fall of 2012 she was an artist-in-residence at Gallery Aferro in Newark, New Jersey, where she had a solo exhibition. Writing as a critic she has published reviews in Sculpture Magazine, Art Papers and was a contributing editor to the online journal ArtHopper.org. In 2005, she curated the exhibition Engendered at Lake Erie College's BK Smith Gallery. She also curated De Materia for Waterloo Arts (2014); I Came for Beauty for Cleveland State University Art Gallery (2016), and Boppin' into the Wild Blue for The Sculpture Center (2016). Her work will be included in Divergent Explorations, opening March 2, 2017 at American Greetings new Gallery W.
She holds an MFA in Painting and an MA in Art History. Cooper teaches in the Painting and Liberal Arts Departments at CIA.
