CIA Professors Doug Paige and Bob Martinez will be teaching the Pre-College course, Industrial Design, this summer. Doug has been a Professor of Industrial Design at CIA since 1988 where he also teaches Designing for Sustainability and Biomimicry. Students will develop an individual approach to the figure through relevant historical and contemporary systems of representation. This course emphasizes on innovative approach to drawing using the figure as a vehicle and primary focus for metaphoric or literal interpretations, and as a site for conceptual inquiry. Diverse combinations of traditional and unconventional mediums will be introduced. Individual reviews of work in progress and group critiques are an integral part of the studio concentration. Museum, gallery excursions, and visiting artists are regularly scheduled to enlighten student pursuits. 3 credits.
