Life after college seems pretty far off…but it’s not as far away as you may think. And the decisions you make today will have a significant impact on your future. Choosing to become a professional artist is a statement of your belief in yourself. Choosing a program that will best prepare you for a career in the visual arts will help you accomplish your goals.
The Cleveland Institute of Art offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Our program offers you a chance to develop exceptional skills, explore different media and pursue individual interests. A semester of internship study and a required professional practice class help make a smooth transition from college life to the professional world. Our faculty members are ready to assist you in preparing for your future as a working professional artist.
Career opportunities for visual artists continue to evolve. There are ever-increasing numbers of artists working across traditional “fine” and “commercial” art boundaries and the digital technology arena continues to offer new career paths. In fact, the professional world has come to recognize the value of a creative thinker and seeks out artists for a variety of non-art professions. With the right combination of talent, dedication, commitment and strong professional training, you’ll be prepared for your future.
The Cleveland Institute of Art offers a variety of services for students to assist them in their career development. Internships are coordinated from the various academic departments, classes are offered to educate students on resume development and interview skills, a comprehensive resource center with information on careers and graduate school is located in the Student Life Office, and a weekly job posting email to your school email account.
Employers, organizations, or individuals can submit full-time, part-time, freelance jobs, or other opportunities to:
