OVERVIEW |
All unmarried, under the age of 21, first-time students at CIA whose permanent residence is outside of Cuyahoga County, are required to live in the residence hall for their first full academic year. The hall consists of single, double and quad rooms, common areas providing space for work on studio assignments, a large main lounge, and laundry rooms.
It is staffed by the full-time Assistant Director of Student Life and Housing and Residence Assistants.
All students housed in the residence hall are required to join the Case Western Reserve University meal plan and take their meals in CWRU dining halls and cafeterias.
Residence hall housing contracts are issued for a full academic year. The required $150 housing deposit is forfeited if the contract is not fulfilled. The room charges vary for our quad, double and single rooms, and for our four available meal plans. First-year students are typically housed in doubles. Although we offer several different Housing options, no one option is guaranteed. By marking your preference on the application, it is just that, a preference. We try out best to accommodate the students' request, however, second and third choices are also considered.
Application for a room in the residence hall should be filed as soon as possible and are included in the college’s acceptance package. Once we receive your application and deposit other material will be mailed and should be completed and returned promptly. Students must submit the application and the required $150 housing deposit before June 30 to ensure that their preference of room assignment will be given first consideration.
Students who have completed their first year of studies are free to choose their living arrangements, either in the residence hall or off-campus. There is a room selection process for those who wish to remain in the Hall in the spring and for those who choose to live off campus, The Office of Student Life maintains a housing list of available apartments near the campus.
