St.A.R.T. July 23 and 24
Come join CIA staff, faculty, and current students for perhaps your first visit to The Institute. Whether it is your first time here, or you have visited us before, you will not only meet your classmates and have a great time, but also tie up loose ends in order to St,A.R.T. your first year on the right foot! The St.A.R.T. Program consists of two-day events held each summer for incoming students. They include informational sessions about class scheduling, financial aid and tuition billing. Incoming students complete a one-hour Liberal Arts academic inventory. Students get their picture taken for their Institute ID card, receive their student e-mail log in and receive a sample class schedule.

We have lots of books, magazines, old postcards, videos, microfiche, and a bunch of other stuff, plus over 400 record albums! We're also selling AV equipment, including slide carousels, video players, a projection screen, and much more. Proceeds go directly toward the purchase of new library materials. Cash, checks, or signed CIA purchase orders only; sorry, we can't accept credit/debit cards. Please come!

TOC: Lolly the Trolley
New in Cleveland? Lived in Cleveland for a while, but haven't been able to see everything? Join CIA for a narrated sightseeing tour of Cleveland. Leave Gund parking lot at 12:00pm and return 2:00pm.
AIDS Walk
Volunteer to walk or do the facepainting to help benefit the fight against AIDS. More information will come out closer to the event.
Pizza Fundraiser
All You Can Eat Pizza! Try pizza from nearby Cleveland restaurants and vote for the CIA's Favorite Pizza Place of 2007. Dewey's won last year, who will win this year? $5
TOC: Coventry Crawl
Walk around the Coventry area all day or part of the day and visit the restaurants and shops in the area to recieve special pricing and discounts only available to CIA students, staff, and faculty. $2 for a t-shirt.
Cleveland Indians vs Oakland A's
If you did not purchase tickets at the Take Me Out to the Ballgame lunch then you can still purchase tickets in the Office of Student Life and Housing. Game begins at 7:05pm. $3.

Cedar Point
Enjoy America's Favorite Roller Coast! You can drive yourself or take the bus. Bus will leave the Gund parking lot at 11am and will leave Cedar Point at 8pm. $10.
Take Me Out to the Ballgame Lunch
Come enjoy free hot dogs, veggie dogs, chips pop and cotton candy! This will be the first day you will able to purchase Indian's tickets.

GLBT and Friends
GLBT and Friends serves as a support group for Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, and Transgendered students. The group works to education students on a variety of topics through social activities, speakers, and meetings.

Student Artists Association
Provides students with practical experience in organizing exhibits and/or sales of artwork. Although ctivities vary depending on the ideas of current members, the Association usually sponsors a holiday art sale. Annual membership fee is $10.
Artists for Christ
A student group that gathers weekly to bring together Christian art students. The purpose of Artists for Christ is to promote the spiritual life of Cleveland Institute of Art students by providing opportunities for
Christian spiritual growth through worship, fellowship, training and servant outreach. AFC is a local gathering of the Campus Crusade for Christ.

Community Service Club
Dedicated to bringing opportunities to serve the greater Cleveland community. Past activities include a toiletry drive, and Hope Lodge dinner.
This year we went to New Orleans to do some community service with Habitat for Humanity. We stayed at camp Hope and helped alot of people. Check out the pictures from our trip!

Student Independent Exhibition
The annual Student Independent Exhibition is one of the major shows featured in the Institute’s Reinberger Galleries each year. The Exhibition is sponsored by the Student Leadership Council and offers students the opportunity to introduce their work to the public. Show rules, jury selection, publicity, catalogs, exhibit design and installation and the opening reception are organized and coordinated by students. Students in all
majors are encouraged to submit work for jury consideration.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
SLC is the student government of SLC. Our goal is to make sure that you are heard and that you hear what is going on. SLC meets once a week in the Student Lounge of the Gund Building. SLC is conprised of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and 2 student representatives from each department.
Elections happen in late September for new representatives. Officers are elected from within SLC.
Some of the things that we host are weekly gallery openings in the coffee house, work with Tuesday Night Special on the Halloween party and Pink Pig. We have made improvements to the school, as well as, fight for students.

Painting Club
This group organizes student run critiques. These critiques will invite local artists or critics. This will give students insight from one another along with opiniions outside the immediate CIA community. They also have readings and discussions.
They meet the second Sunday of each month and have either a critique or discussion. The club will post the meetings and readings on the Painting department's blackboard site and on a poster in the department. All are welcome.
